The semi-automatic rifles of the APC9 series from the Swiss company B&T are popular weapons for police purposes, but they can also be used for sport shooting. Specifically, the G model of the APC9 K PRO rifle is a compact variant that works with double-column Glock 9 mm magazines.
APC stands for Advanced Police Carbine. It is available in various variants and calibers primarily for police, but also tactical military use. In the development of these weapons, "Development Expertise" processes from the IT segment were used, which proved to be very agile.
From the first hand sketch to a functional prototype, it took the designers and B&T company just under 45 days. The best ideas do not need to be created slowly. Specifically, Karl Brügger is behind the APC carbine. Some of his ideas were even conceived late in the evening at the kitchen table.
The B&T APC9 rifle can significantly reduce the level of perceived recoil with its construction. It includes a special hydraulic recoil buffer at the end of the barrel. The weapon can therefore remain surprisingly light and compact (it is even referred to as a "subcompact carbine") while generating only minimal recoil. This concept was later adopted by the SPC9 series of rifles.
All rifles in the B&T APC series use the same ergonomics and controls, which can save the unit a lot of training hours at the shooting range and, ultimately, ammunition costs. The operation of all APC rifles is the same regardless of the caliber—and there are many calibers available. This variant comes with a universal pistol caliber 9×19 mm, which allows use on standard shooting ranges.
More than half of all parts are interchangeable within the APC platform among individual weapons, regardless of whether it is the compact APC9 K PRO or the full-sized APC308 caliber 7.62×51 mm. You can also choose from a comprehensive range of accessories, including suppressors, bipods, shoulder stocks, grips, lighting, or optics.
Because the APC9 K PRO G variant is compatible with 9 mm double-column Glock magazines, these magazines can be easily swapped between your primary and backup weapon, which is often a Glock pistol. The "K" in the rifle's name means that it is a compact solution that police officers or military personnel can use for self-defense.
At the front, approximately above the magazine, there is a charging handle that is ambidextrous and thus suitable for both right-handed and left-handed users. It is also foldable, so it doesn't obstruct your view after use. This solution was also subsequently adopted by the SPC9 series of rifles.
The APC9 K PRO G rifle features an adjustable stock that can be locked in several different positions. It is easy to fold using a single button and gravity. We must also mention the interchangeable pistol grip, or the entire lower part of the rifle, so you can more easily customize the weapon to your needs.
A prominent feature of the entire weapon is the Aimpoint optics, which, due to its concept, needs its commonly used battery replaced only once every few years. Additionally, there are two mechanical sights, which are foldable, making their use optional.
The forearm is of the Quad Rail type, which means it is practically equipped with mounts for accessory installation on all four sides. At the top, there is a classic Picatinny 1913 rail running the entire length of the forearm.
