The B&T SPC9 SD G semi-automatic rifle is a great combination of several different weapons. The charging handle (one of two) comes from the M4/AR concept, the M4-type pistol grip fits Glock magazines (or B&T polymer magazines), the telescopic stock adds to the ergonomics, and the proven APC PRO design is favored by true professionals.
This weapon, like the entire SPC9 series from B&T, boasts a hybrid design that is widely demanded by customers. This type of weapon has been nicknamed Frankengun – as they contain various features and elements that can be found in different weapon systems worldwide.
A certain police agency in Europe was seeking a 9mm carbine with controls and ergonomics comparable to the AR platform. One of the main reasons was financial, as the classic 9mm cartridge remains cheaper than .300 AAC or 5.56 caliber cartridges. Additionally, the existing police shooting range was equipped with a bullet trap designed exclusively for pistol ammunition.
Features of the SPC9 rifles include the time-proven three-pronged barrel attachment. This solution is used in some of the world's most popular semi-automatic rifles, for which B&T has been manufacturing silencers for almost three decades. The manufacturer opted for this system because it is the best mounting system for silencers on 9mm semi-automatic rifles.
The B&T SPC9 SD G is a rifle with surprisingly low recoil. The main reason is the hydraulic recoil buffer located at the end of the weapon's barrel (which, among other things, has a surprisingly low weight). This innovative solution significantly reduces recoil levels.
A plus of this rifle is the two different charging handle systems: front and rear. The first is borrowed from the popular APC9 rifles, while the rear comes from the AR platform. Either way, the operation of the charging handle is ambidextrous, making it suitable for right-handed and left-handed users – with the designer of this weapon being part of the latter group.
With the installation of the appropriate pistol grip (see below), the SPC9 platform is compatible with any 9mm Glock magazine. Users will surely appreciate both the flexibility and cost savings, or the ability to assist each other with fellow combatants when needed.
The SPC9 rifle has adopted the telescopic stock and handle from the standard AR platform. The stock is six-position and can be replaced with any other AR stock available on the market. Similarly, the pistol grip can be swapped out. The rifle comes with a grip manufactured directly by Swiss B&T, but you may also choose solutions from Magpul, BCM, and others.
The rifle offers the ability to install various accessories, whether it's a flashlight, sight, and other add-ons, thanks to the NAR and M-LOK mounting systems. While NAR systems can be found at the twelve and six o'clock positions, the M-LOK rail is sideways. You get one M-LOK rail with the SPC9 rifle as standard, but you can add more.
The SPC9 rifle has adopted its pistol grip from the popular APC9 series, which won the US Army's tender for a new-generation subcompact weapon (SCW). The SPC9 pistol grip is compatible with the renowned, reliable polymer magazines from B&T. Alternatively, in a different configuration, the pistol grip can be combined with the aforementioned Glock magazines.
The SPC9 rifles come standard with Aimpoint T-Series optics on a 39mm riser and mount. The optics illumination system is designed so that commonly used batteries in the optics need only be replaced approximately once every five years of operation. The Aimpoint T-Series also works with flip-up metal sights.
There are also other unique features that are not immediately apparent. These include a cold-hammer-forged barrel for excellent accurate shooting. The two-stage trigger system operates according to European standards, allowing the weapon to be secured with the hammer forward during the manipulation process.
