The American brand Ruger primarily focuses on the commercial sporting market, which includes its rimfire rifles. Among these is the Ruger 10/22 Takedown, where the first number indicates the number of shots and the second the caliber, i.e., .22 LR.
The rimfire rifle includes proven elements from another American brand, Magpul, which is often the first choice for many weapon manufacturers in this field. Experts will recognize at first glance the X-22 Backpacker stock, which is a smaller version of the Hunter X-22 Takedown stock. This makes it easier to store and transport.
Let's pause for a moment on the stock. It is made from advanced, durable polymer that ensures the weapon has greater durability. At the same time, it is lightweight, and a big advantage is the fact that it contains storage space, which can hold, for example, three spare 10-shot magazines. This means you don't have to carry them separately and don't have to worry about where to place them. Overall, you have 40 shots available without having to carry anything extra.
The stock also has a unique solution that makes transporting the weapon easier. When you are not using the Ruger 10/22 Takedown, you can simply disassemble the barrel, which can be attached to special lockable holders directly on the stock. This significantly shortens the weapon during transport, and you won't need such a large case.
There are additional practical accessories from Magpul related to the stock, such as the MOE SL rubber butt pad at the end, ergonomic foregrip, or the optional attachment point for a QD sling. The stock attaches to the barrel using a drop-in system and is easy to do even when optics are mounted on the foregrip. The weapon is compatible with Weaver and .22 scope mounts.
The proven design of the Ruger brand ensures consistent and reliable performance for this weapon. The precisely crafted barrel is cold-hammer-forged, and the combination of foregrip and stock gives the weapon a unique and attractive appearance. A Silent-SR suppressor can be attached to the barrel.
Thanks to its material design, the weapon is highly durable, which also includes the heat-stabilized polymer trigger housing assembly filled with glass. The high-tech material is highly impact and abrasion-resistant, as well as resistant to adverse weather conditions.
The magazine release is very easy to operate, and the 10-shot rotary magazine is equipped with a unique rotor for separating rounds and ensuring reliable feeding. Besides, the recessed magazine can be easily and seamlessly removed from the body of the weapon. Lastly, we must mention the positive, button-operated, cross-bolt manual safety, which ensures the security of the weapon.
