Vortex® Defender-CCW Micro Red Dot 6 MOA

The Vortex Defender-CCW 6 MOA is a compact open-emitter micro red dot sight designed for concealed carry and defensive handguns with the Shield RMSc footprint. It features a large 6 MOA red dot, a top-loading CR1632 battery, and an ultra-lightweight 27 g design. The larger aiming dot enables faster target acquisition, making it ideal for defensive shooting, dynamic drills, and close- to medium-range engagements.

The Defender-CCW utilizes the Shield RMSc mounting footprint commonly found on compact optics-ready pistols. Before installation, always verify compatibility with your pistol's optics cut, mounting plate, screw set, and holster, as mounting specifications vary between manufacturers.

6 MOA Red Dot

The sight features a crisp 6 MOA red aiming dot. Compared to a smaller 3 MOA dot, the larger reticle is generally faster to acquire during rapid presentations and target transitions, making it well suited for concealed carry, defensive use, and close-range shooting. Shooters prioritizing maximum precision at longer distances may prefer the 3 MOA version.

Top-Loading Battery and Motion Activation

The CR1632 battery installs from the top, eliminating the need to remove the optic when replacing the battery and helping maintain zero. Motion activation automatically powers the sight on when movement is detected, while automatic shutoff after 10 minutes of inactivity helps maximize battery life. Runtime is up to 9,500 hours, depending on brightness setting and operating conditions.

Brightness Settings and Controls

The Defender-CCW offers 10 brightness settings, including eight daylight levels and two night vision-compatible settings. Windage and elevation adjustments provide 1 MOA click values with a total adjustment range of 110 MOA elevation and 105 MOA windage. The Button Lockout feature helps prevent accidental brightness changes during transport or everyday carry.

Durable Construction

The housing is machined from 7075 aluminum and incorporates a ShockShield™ polymer insert to help absorb impacts. Fast-Rack™ front serrations allow emergency one-handed slide manipulation against a solid surface. Additional features include an aspherical lens, hard-anodized matte black finish, waterproof and fogproof construction, and resistance to recoil and impact.

The Defender-CCW measures approximately 40 mm in length and weighs about 27 g. The package includes a Picatinny mounting base, a 1° shim plate, mounting tool, multiple screw sets, a lens cloth, a protective rubber cover, and one CR1632 battery.
