GOAST (Get Out And Shoot Target) thermal targets were engineered to withstand the harsh conditions of the far north. Their purpose is simple: save you time, space, and effort on the range while making your shooting practice as efficient as possible. Thanks to their instant visual feedback, they’re an excellent training tool for both tactical and sport shooting.

GOAST target systems and accessories will soon be available at Rigad. And that’s not all — Parallax Combat Training Solutions also offers unique shooting and sniper training courses in demanding Arctic environments.

GOAST Target Systems: How Modern Shooting Targets Work

The innovative GOAST target system was designed for both short- and long-range shooting with supersonic and subsonic ammunition alike. Its unique thermal properties provide instant visual feedback on impact, allowing shooters to quickly evaluate their shots — even in low-visibility conditions.

Thanks to their specialized materials and robust construction, GOAST targets offer exceptional durability and a long service life, even during intensive training sessions. The lineup includes everything from compact training targets to realistic silhouette designs and models optimized for specific types of ammunition.

Lightweight and Easy to Carry

Despite their impressive durability, GOAST targets are surprisingly lightweight and easy to handle. For example, the Circular Target with a 30 cm diameter weighs just 0.6 kg, while the E-Type torso target measuring 45 × 74 cm weighs only 2.5 kg.

Their low weight and compact shape make transport effortless, even when carrying multiple targets at once. Unlike many traditional steel targets, GOAST systems are designed to withstand frequent movement and transport without damage.

TIP: Military units, law enforcement agencies, and emergency services can order specially customized GOAST targets tailored to specific training requirements. Contact Rigad for more information.

Quick and Simple Setup

Another major advantage of GOAST target systems is their extremely easy installation. The entire concept was designed to minimize setup time so you can focus on what matters most — shooting and training.

Targets can be hung, nailed, screwed into place, or simply leaned against a solid support. No heavy steel frames or complicated mounting systems are required. The moving E-Type Mover target is also compatible with many commonly used moving-target systems.

Instant Hit Visibility with GOAST Spray and LED Indicators

When paired with the dedicated GOAST spray coating and LED hit indicators, the system provides immediate visual confirmation of impacts — even at very long distances.

After a hit, the coating is stripped away at the point of impact, revealing a clearly visible mark in the target’s base color. Depending on the caliber and ammunition type, the visible impact area is typically around 3–5 cm in diameter.

The optional LED indicators take things even further by allowing shooters to track hits in real time without interrupting the shooting session or walking downrange to inspect the target.

GOAST Thermal Targets and the Self-Healing Effect

Hit marks remain visible on the target for approximately 10–15 seconds. The specialized material reacts to heat and gradually “heals” itself after impact, minimizing permanent damage and reducing the formation of holes. This feature is commonly referred to as the self-healing effect.

The target itself is completely thermally passive, meaning it requires no external heat source or power supply.

Different target colors are optimized for different shooting conditions. Yellow targets are ideal for low-light environments and long-range shooting, while black variants are better suited for close-range precision shooting. Some models can also be used in combination with thermal optics, opening up even more possibilities for advanced training scenarios.

Safe Shooting Without Ricochets or Fire Risk

GOAST targets are designed with safety in mind. Their specialized construction virtually eliminates ricochets and significantly reduces the risk of fire, allowing shooters to train safely even at very close distances.

The durable material withstands thousands of rounds, harsh weather conditions, and prolonged exposure to water. Even in temperatures around -20 °C, the targets retain their flexibility and resist cracking. A protective surface treatment also shields them from UV radiation, preventing fading during long-term outdoor use.

Who’s Behind GOAST? Meet Parallax Combat Training Solutions

The Norwegian company behind the GOAST target system, Parallax Combat Training Solutions, is about far more than innovative thermal targets. From the very beginning, it’s clear that the system was developed by people with real-world experience — nearly 40 years of combined sniper expertise.

The Parallax team consists of military veterans and active-duty personnel who bring together operational knowledge and training experience from around the world.

Parallax Sniper Academy was founded in 2019 by Alan Jensen, who had previously organized the SSUE (Small Sniper Unit Exchange) program for the Norwegian Army. Over time, the event attracted special operations and sniper units from multiple NATO countries, with teams from 12 nations participating in the latest edition.

As demand for advanced training continued to grow, the project evolved into Parallax Combat Training Solutions, which now offers a broad range of professional shooting and tactical training programs.

Shooting Training in Arctic Conditions

Parallax Combat Training Solutions provides sniper and military training for armed forces personnel, as well as long-range shooting courses for civilian marksmen.

Training takes place in vast, untouched natural environments that offer truly unique conditions for realistic shooting practice — including winter operations and extreme weather scenarios.

Military courses are reserved for NATO units and members of allied armed forces. Engagement distances regularly exceed 2,000 meters, with a strong focus on realistic field conditions and operating under environmental stress.

The training program includes shooting with calibers up to .50 BMG, 360-degree shooting scenarios, high-angle engagements, cross-valley shooting, explosives training, and much more. Additional information about available courses can be found on the Parallax website.
