ESP® ExBTO-18 Easy Lock Expandable Baton with Push-Button Release

The ESP ExBTO-18 Easy Lock expandable baton combines a textured non-slip grip, compact round end cap, and patented push-button release mechanism. It is suitable for professional duty use as well as personal equipment, particularly for users who require straightforward handling and the ability to collapse the baton without striking it against a hard surface.

Compact End Cap and Secure Grip

The round end cap provides a more compact profile than the alternative triangular design. The molded rubber handle features pronounced texturing that supports a secure grip and reduces the risk of the baton slipping from the user's hand.

Secure Extension Lock

The telescoping sections can be extended with a swinging motion or by manually pulling out the tip. Once fully extended, the locking mechanism secures the sections in position. To collapse the baton, press the button in the end of the handle and apply light pressure to the tip.

Push-Button Closure without a Hard Surface

The Easy Lock mechanism distinguishes this model from conventional Friction Lock batons. The release does not depend on how forcefully the baton was extended. Pressing the button disengages the lock and allows the telescoping sections to slide back into the handle. No hard surface is required, and the baton should not be collapsed by striking it against another object.

Tested Locking Mechanism

The locking mechanism was tested through 6,000 extension and collapse cycles and remained functional. During a manufacturer drop test from a height of 2 m onto concrete, the baton remained operational and could still be collapsed. The lock was also tested through repeated drops into mud. A black nickel-zinc surface treatment improves the abrasion resistance of the telescoping tubes.
