Leina-Werke GmbH is a well-established German manufacturer of medical and safety equipment, founded in 1964 by Roswitha and Horst-Werner Falkenstein. Today, the company is recognized as one of Europe’s leading producers of first aid kits, warning triangles, and related safety products, widely used in both civilian and professional environments.

Established History and Growth

The company was originally founded in Cologne under the name Leininger Verbandstoffe before relocating to Rosbach, now part of Windeck, shortly thereafter. A key milestone came in 1968, when legislation in Germany made car first aid kits mandatory—significantly accelerating the company’s growth and market presence.

In 1991, ownership transferred to Hartmut Steinhauer, under whose leadership the company expanded internationally. This included the acquisition of the Czech company Lova in 1993, strengthening Leina-Werke’s position in the European market for first aid and safety products.

International Presence

Leina-Werke continued its expansion with the construction of a major logistics center in Pegnitz in 2002, supporting distribution across Germany and Europe. In 2004, cooperation with Polish manufacturer Vera further extended the company’s reach into Eastern European markets.

Today, the company employs approximately 220 people and operates production and logistics facilities across Europe. Its headquarters and primary manufacturing base are located in Windeck (Germany), with additional operations in Lovčice (Czech Republic) and Bielsko-Biała (Poland).
