Jetboil is among the most efficient outdoor cooking systems on the market. The system is based on the FluxRing heat exchanger, which by concentrating heat into the exchanger reduces cooking time and increases its efficiency up to 80%. By comparison, standard gas stoves vary between 30% and 40% in efficiency. That way you use a lot less gas, so you're not forced to buy new cartridges so often.
The base consists of a 1.8 litre cooking container with a FluxRing heat exchanger. It has a neoprene insulation and handle. Pot is fitted with a handy silicone cap with funnel and a draining hole. It also has an opening for a coffee filter that can be purchased separately. You'll get an excellent option for preparing filtered coffee on the road.
The most important part of the entire cooking system is the burner with integrated piezo ignition and switch continuous flame control. Just one lighter click and in a little over 4 minutes you have a liter of hot water. Patented regulator technology will ensure smooth power settings. The system is thus ideal for cooking sauces, for example, and for roasting vegetables. You simply put the container on the burner and rotate it to prevent unwanted movement and release. The resulting whole is relatively high and therefore in the pack a plastic folding tripod is also added to make the whole system more stable and not tip over.
The necessity for a traveler is of course good storage, and so the whole system is designed to fit everything into the container. It will hold a small, 100g, but even a large, 230g cartridge, the burner, and the plastic tripod. It is therefore a complete cooking system, which has very compact dimensions in the folded state. The heat exchanger then only needs to be fitted with a plastic cover, which also serves as a cup or measuring cup.
The manufacturer reports an average time to bring 1 litre of water to the boiling point to be 4 minutes and 15 seconds (using an original Jetboil cartridge). A 230gram cartridge can boil up to 24 liters of water. According to available reviews and tests, the most optimal efficiency in setting the valve is to about 70% power. Power is still maintained at an ideal level thanks to the pressure-valve stove – even when you open the thread fully, the stove still releases the appropriate amount of gas under any conditions to achieve the most efficient cooking).
