The company was founded in 1963 by Austrian engineer Gaston Glock in the town of Deutsch-Wagram. Initially, the company focused on manufacturing polymer and metal components. In the late 1970s, Glock began developing products for the military, including field knives and training equipment.

A major turning point came in the early 1980s when Gaston Glock developed a revolutionary semi-automatic pistol with a polymer frame. At the time, this was a significant innovation in handgun design. The first model, the Glock 17, was introduced in 1982 and featured the Safe Action^® system with three independent safety mechanisms that improve handling safety.

The Glock 17 quickly gained popularity thanks to its lightweight construction, durability, and simple maintenance. It was adopted by the Austrian Armed Forces and later by numerous military and law enforcement agencies around the world.

In 1985, Glock expanded to the United States, establishing its American headquarters in Smyrna, Georgia. The brand soon became widely used by police and security agencies across the country.

Glock has continuously improved its pistols through several generations. Later generations introduced ergonomic improvements, accessory mounting rails, interchangeable backstraps, and upgraded recoil systems. The fifth generation of Glock pistols focuses on enhanced durability, improved ergonomics, and increased accuracy.
