As the name of this pistol suggests, the Walther Q5 is equipped with a steel frame. It belongs to a series of pistols from a top German manufacturer, which uniquely combines a steel frame with a Striker Fired system.
The steel frame of the Walther Q5 pistol is made from a forging that is precisely machined on CNC machines, resulting in an accurate piece of craftsmanship. The magazines intended for this weapon are also steel, with either plastic or aluminum base plates.
The Walther Q5 Match Steel Frame Champion pistol is based on the popular PPQ model, which is designed for both police and self-defense use. The Q5 (and indeed the entire series of these pistols) shares some parts with this model. Like the PPQ pistol, the Q5 is highly ergonomic with easily accessible control elements.
The Walther Q5 is a self-loading pistol with a slide locked by the Browning-Petter system. This means it locks into the enlarged ejection port of the slide with an external block of the barrel's chamber. The pistol features a short barrel recoil and unlocking with an open slide cam at the bottom of the barrel. The high-quality and well-designed trigger mechanism is also noteworthy.
The advantage of this weapon is its ambidextrous controls, so it doesn't matter which hand is dominant (whether you are right or left-handed). The controls are facilitated by pronounced slide serrations at both the front and back, as well as an ambidextrous elongated slide stop and release.
You can mount equipment and accessories on the pistol thanks to the integrated universal Picatinny rail at the front of the weapon's steel frame. At the back, there is a prominent beavertail and interchangeable grip backstraps. The weapon is factory-equipped with an LPA fiber optic front sight and a replaceable adapter with an adjustable LPA rear sight. Interchangeable adapters for mounting reflex sights are also included.
The Champion model is an extension of the basic Match model, which is intended for sports shooting according to IPSC standards in the Production and Production Optics divisions. The Champion variant also comes with an expanded magwell entry and is supplied with compatible 17-round magazines with an aluminum base. The trigger also has an adjustable trigger point.
