The American company Ruger is a well-known and long-standing manufacturer, particularly of sporting firearms, including pistols. One of these pistols is the Ruger American Competition model, standard caliber 9 mm Luger.
The American Competition pistol is equipped with a fully adjustable, serrated rear sight and a fiber optic front sight – both designed for quick targeting and precise shooting. Additionally, the slide of the gun is threaded for direct mounting of professional red dot optics from brands like Vortex, Burris, Sightmark, Docter, MeoRed, and MRDS, among others.
The slide of the American Competition pistol is made from stainless steel to reduce weight. It also features a durable black nitride finish and serrations on the top section, both aimed at increasing the weapon's stealth by reducing glare.
The Ruger American Competition pistol uses a sport barrel made of stainless steel, with rifling designed for increased accuracy even with lighter projectiles. Underneath the barrel is a universal Picatinny 1913 (MIL-STD-1913) mounting rail, allowing a wide range of standard lighting or lasers to be attached to the weapon.
The Ruger American Competition sport pistol is equipped with a modular grip system that adapts to the shooter's palm and trigger reach, making the weapon suitable for different hand sizes. The ergonomic design is complemented by non-slip surfaces and an "aggressively" textured frame and grip modules for better control over the weapon.
The barrel includes a cam that distributes recoil forces over a longer time frame, effectively reducing the recoil felt by the shooter. The pre-cocked striker system is equipped with a strong striker spring for positive ignition without the need for a heavier trigger pull.
The pistol boasts a durable stainless steel chassis with a black nitride finish for low glare. The one-piece body is precisely crafted and features integrated rails in the frame and a firing control cover. The package also includes two steel magazines with a nickel-teflon coating.
As is customary, the American manufacturer also considered safety in this firearm, which is present in multiple layers. The safety features include an automatic firing pin block and an integrated trigger safety. Disassembly is safe and simple, requiring no tools or trigger pull.
In designing the American Competition pistol, Ruger also considered left-handers, equipping the weapon with an ambidextrous slide stop and magazine release. Additionally, it is important to note that the gun's performance has been tested for continuous use of +P ammunition.
