The Ruger Mark IV 22/45 Tactical is a semi-automatic .22 LR pistol combining the 22/45 series grip geometry with a steel receiver and extensive accessory mounting options. Model 40167 is a limited-production variant featuring G10 grip panels, a threaded barrel, upper and lower accessory rails and the Mark IV one-button takedown system for easy maintenance.
One of the defining features of the Mark IV platform is its simple, tool-free takedown system. Pressing the button at the rear of the frame allows the barrel and receiver assembly to pivot upward and separate from the grip frame. This provides convenient access to the bolt and chamber and makes routine cleaning significantly easier than with previous generations of Ruger rimfire pistols.
The 4.4" (approximately 11.2 cm) cold hammer-forged barrel features a 1/2"-28 muzzle thread with a factory thread protector. The threaded muzzle accepts compatible muzzle devices, including suppressors. The Mark IV design uses a cylindrical bolt that reciprocates inside the receiver rather than a conventional reciprocating slide, keeping the barrel and sights stationary during operation.
An upper Picatinny rail provides a mounting interface for a red dot sight or other compatible optic. A second rail beneath the barrel allows the installation of accessories such as a weapon-mounted light. The pistol is also equipped with conventional iron sights consisting of a fixed front sight and an adjustable rear sight.
The 22/45 series uses a polymer grip frame with a grip angle and control layout inspired by the 1911 platform. This limited-edition model adds textured G10 grip panels for a secure and consistent grip. The manual safety is ambidextrous and can be converted to left-side-only operation using the supplied washer. The push-button magazine release is positioned on the left side of the frame, and the magazines are designed to drop free when released.
Model 40167 is a limited-production version originally offered through U.S. distributor Davidson's. It differs from the standard Mark IV 22/45 Tactical configuration with features including G10 grip panels and a Cerakote finish. The pistol is supplied with two 10-round magazines.
