The G.I.S. PSR9 Compact is a user-serviceable suppressor for semi-automatic pistols chambered in 9×19 mm. Developed to meet requirements specified by the Czech Armed Forces, it is shorter and lighter than the PSR9 Standard while providing approximately 28 dB of sound reduction. An integrated recoil booster supports reliable cycling in pistols with moving-barrel operating systems, while the fully disassemblable construction simplifies cleaning and maintenance.
The PSR9 Compact reduces the length and weight added to the muzzle compared with the PSR9 Standard. This makes the pistol easier to handle while retaining effective sound suppression. The longer Standard model provides approximately 3 dB more sound reduction, while the Compact prioritizes reduced size and weight.
The integrated recoil booster, also known as a Nielsen device, allows compatible recoil-operated pistols to cycle reliably with the suppressor installed. It is intended for designs using a moving barrel, including common tilting- and rotating-barrel systems.
The booster can be indexed through 12 positions. Changing its orientation allows the suppressor to be aligned with the pistol and can help minimize or correct a suppressor-induced shift in the point of impact.
The internal assembly uses four primary baffles and one expansion baffle. Compared with the six-baffle arrangement of the PSR9 Standard, this configuration reduces overall length and weight while maintaining the performance expected from a dedicated 9mm pistol suppressor.
The suppressor can be disassembled into its body, recoil booster, baffle stack, and other internal components. This provides access to areas where carbon, primer residue, and unburned powder accumulate during use.
The modular construction also allows individual worn or damaged components to be replaced without discarding the entire suppressor.
The main body is manufactured from 7075 aluminum alloy with a hard-anodized finish. Titanium alloy, stainless steel, and hardened high-strength steel are used for selected internal and load-bearing components. Steel parts receive a nitrided finish for increased surface hardness and wear resistance.
The PSR9 Compact is available with 1/2"-28, M12×0.75, M13×1, and M13.5×1 LH mounting threads. The selected version must match the muzzle thread of the intended barrel.
Subsonic ammunition provides the best overall sound reduction because the projectile remains below the speed of sound. A suppressor reduces muzzle blast but cannot eliminate the ballistic crack generated by a supersonic projectile.
