On Monday, May 6, 2024, the first ever charity gala evening of combat sports CZ FIGHTERS FOR VETERANS took place in Prague's UNYP Arena. We were honored to be a part of a project that connects the worlds of professional wrestlers and the military and aims to support war veterans, their families and children of the fallen.
This project was born in the minds of the soldiers themselves, led by Lt. Col. Petr Matouš, commander of the 43rd Airborne Regiment in Chrudim, with the aim of supporting his former colleagues. The cage pitted soldiers and police on one side against professional wrestlers on the other.
The duel of Lt. Col. Petr Matouš, the commander of the 43rd Airborne Regiment in Chrudim, and David Dvořák, a professional MMA wrestler, were among the highlights of the evening.
Probably the most watched match was the fight of Lt. Col. Petr Matouš and David Dvořák, professional MMA wrestler with the nickname Hrobník (grave digger). But other well-known names such as Pokorný, Široký or Příbyl appeared among the wrestlers.
During this one-time event, a total of CZK 761,043 was collected, which will go to the account of the Military Solidarity Fund. It was an honor for our Rigad armyshop to participate in this event as one of the main partners. The event also included a painting auction, which was organized by Reflex magazine in cooperation with the charity auction platform Dobrobot.
