Large rucksacks are one of the largest backpacks. That is why they should have the best possible carrying system to protect our back. Watch out also for disposition and fabric.

For expedition or longer trip, where we will be outside of the civilization, we need proper backpack. It must not dissapoint us, must be able to take in as many things as we need and it also must be comfortable. Yes, we are talking about large volume backpacks and rucksacks. Backpacks with volume of over 75 l are considered large backpacks. For long-duration stays or missions there are also backpacks with volume of 120 l. Such volume has one disadvantage - heavy weight. Backpack itself is heavy not mentioning equipment such as sleeping bag and pad, clothing and food + water. We need to put this weight somewhere, how can we do it ?

The heaviest and most advanced

Just as shoes, we can also buy cheap bags. Purchasing small cheap backpack will not cause as many troubles as when we would do the same with large backpack. The entire carrying system is highly sophisticated. The base is internal frame, mostly dural or wooden, which helps to keep backpack´s shape. The frame is inside of the back system, which is padded for comfort. Two shoulder straps are attached/fixed to back system and also include adjusting compression straps. These straps helps to adjust the backpack for better stability. For fixation, there is also chest/sternum strap. Another, and very likely the most needed part, is hipbelt, which is attached directly to carrying system. It helps to adjust the backpack and ensures that rucksack remains on place. This belt help to transfer the weight to the legs, which is beneficial especially for our back. The carrying system is the most important thing, followed by fabric and color. However, the fabric should be as durable as possible and also water-resistant as prolonged carry is expected. Additional rain cover will make the situation even better.

Organization provides comfort

With their size, the large rucksacks provide plenty of storage space. The main compartment entry is usually from the top under the lid. Internal organization as well as another pockets are highly useful. When there is only piece without any additional organization or compartments it can be quite disadvantegous, because it can take us longer before we find something. It is therefore always better when your rucksack has side pockets or another additional organization.

Backpack for a lifetime

We will be purchasing equipment multiple times during our lives. But we should pay extra attention when choosing large backpack or rucksack as well as we should not hesitate to pay little extra for the right piece. Focus on the carrying system. It must be reinforced, padded and fits on our back perfectly. The ventilation is also important. Shoulder straps just as hipbelt and back part should be padded and durable to withstand something. Which brings us to fabrics. There are quite a few options to choose from, in military the nylon is mostly used, elsewhere is also used or replaced with polyester. Either way, it must be strong, durable and water-resistant as we do not really want the content to get wet. Another features, such as compression straps and other high-quality parts, makes it even better.
