The Helikon-Tex Swagman Scarf can do more than you would expect from a "scarf". It easily packs into a pocket, but in the field, it adapts to the situation – transforming into a poncho, a light sleeping bag, a wind screen or an emergency blanket. A single piece of equipment that offers room for improvisation and increases the chance of staying dry and warm.
The Swagman Scarf serves as a scarf, raincoat or hooded poncho. It can be fastened on the sides to create a lightweight jacket. At the campsite, it substitutes for a tarp or sleeping bag, and in an emergency, it acts as a durable replacement for an NRC foil. Thanks to its smart design, it adapts to what you need without complicated solutions or delays.
The basic component is a rectangular panel made of durable nylon. The material is lightweight, easily compresses into a small package, and when unfolded, it immediately holds its shape. It doesn't restrict movement and works well with other gear – from a jacket to a backpack's waist belt.
The concept is based on an idea by Canadian survival instructor Mors Kochanski. Helikon-Tex pays tribute to him with this piece and takes his idea further – towards truly thoughtful and field-tested equipment. The Swagman Scarf was created out of real necessity and field testing, not behind a desk.
