Even though the name of the company Fox Knives might sound a bit English, its meaning hardly denies its Italian origin. The company was founded in 1977 by Oreste Frati in the town of Maniago, and since then, his "child" has developed into a global knife producer.
And it was exactly as Frati intended, because Fox in this case is an acronym for "Frati Oreste eXport". The company Fox Knives was not founded in Maniago by chance, as this town is known as the "city of knives" and boasts a tradition of metalworking that spans more than five hundred years. Add innovation and collaboration with world designers to this tradition, and you get knives that withstand the test of time and obstacles.
The design of some Fox Knives models is by designers such as Jesper Voxnaes or Denis Simonutti. Thanks to this, the brand's knives can boast prestigious awards like the Red Dot Design Award or "Knife of the Year" at the Blade Show.
The product range of Fox Knives includes folding knives, fixed-blade knives, and models specifically intended for military and rescue purposes. Tactical knives for professional use are even handled by a separate brand FKMD (Fox Knives Military Division). Affordable EDC models can be purchased under the sister brand BlackFox, and lastly, it is worth mentioning the popular Due Cigni kitchen knives.
In 2020, the company merged with Euro Knives, resulting in the modern FOX2 Manufacturing facility. The company prides itself on ISO quality certification as well as being an official NATO supplier.
Even though today it's a global supplier, it is still a family business, currently led by Gabrielle Frati along with his mother Valnea and wife Claudia. Together, they strive to promote innovation while still referencing the traditions on which Fox Knives and the history of the town of Maniago are built.
