The ANV M500 Anthropoid 1942 Fixed Blade Knife is a limited collector’s edition dedicated to Operation Anthropoid, one of the most important acts of Czechoslovak resistance during World War II. Each release in the Anthropoid series commemorates a specific moment connected to the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich and honors the courage of the Czechoslovak paratroopers involved in the operation.
This limited edition commemorates the Mercedes-Benz 320 Cabriolet B, the official car used by Deputy Reich Protector Reinhard Heydrich. The vehicle became the target of the attack carried out on May 27, 1942, in Prague-Libeň during Operation Anthropoid. After Jozef Gabčík’s submachine gun failed to fire, Jan Kubiš attacked with a specially modified grenade. The explosion severely damaged the car and inflicted fatal injuries on Heydrich. The damaged Mercedes-Benz later became one of the most recognizable symbols of the successful resistance action against the Nazi regime.
The knife is based on the ANV M500 Anthropoid model, a modern interpretation of the legendary British Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife. This historical reference reflects the training of Czechoslovak paratroopers in Great Britain, while the knife itself offers a contemporary full-tang construction for practical durability. The defining feature of the 2025 edition is the detailed engraving of the Mercedes-Benz 320 Cabriolet B on the blade, commemorating a decisive moment of the operation.
The M500 Anthropoid 1942 features a solid full-tang design, a substantial guard, and an ergonomically shaped red G10 handle for a secure grip. The handle is finished with a glass breaker, adding a practical emergency-use feature to the knife’s construction.
Production is limited to only 100 pieces. Each knife is individually numbered, and the package includes a themed collector’s card describing the story behind this year’s edition.
