COP is not only a shop with police equipment, which was founded by Chris Hermann in 1990. At that time, he was a member of special police forces in Bavaria and founded the company COP with the aim of providing his colleagues with special equipment that, in most cases, was not available from their employer.

It didn't take long for COP's practical assortment to be well received, thanks also to the possibility of cash on delivery shipping throughout Germany. After the first store opened, more and more COP stores followed.

The target group of COP includes police officers, border guards, customs officers, military agencies, security services, firefighters, as well as journalists, hobby shooters, hunters, and private individuals.

COP also manufactures and sells its own brand of products in many countries.
