The Turtle Pack ZP backpack from Tasmanian Tiger expands the plate carrier with a compact rear storage space and reduces the need to carry a separate large backpack. It attaches directly using a zip system and holds gear securely close to the body. At the same time, it can also be worn separately thanks to its own straps. It offers a well-thought-out organization for tools and other equipment while maintaining a low profile. A solution for situations where more needs to be carried without losing mobility.
The backpack is designed as an accessory for a plate carrier compatible with the zip system. It attaches via side zippers and forms a solid part of the gear without the need for additional straps. It also has its own adjustable straps, so it can be worn separately as a regular backpack. Depending on the situation, the carrying method can be easily chosen.
The backpack is prepared for zip systems, but if the plate carrier or other carrying system does not have zippers, the included adapters can be used. These allow attachment via MOLLE webbing, so the backpack also works on other compatible platforms. This way, it fits into various setups without the need to change gear.
The main compartment offers ample room for equipment and is complemented with interior organization. Inside, there is MOLLE webbing equipped with Velcro for individualized gear arrangement and mesh pockets for smaller items. The lid with a zip pocket allows quick access to small items without opening the entire backpack.
The design also considers the transport of longer tools. The expandable main space allows storing larger pieces of equipment, such as tools for technical interventions. Thus, the backpack can handle not only regular gear but also specific equipment for particular tasks.
An internal compression cord allows the load to be tightened according to current needs. If the backpack is not fully loaded, it holds the contents firmly in place, preventing unnecessary movement. Conversely, it offers space for greater volume without needing to change the configuration.
The front features a Velcro panel (fleece) for attaching patches or identification, complemented by the option to insert a chem light or other similar-sized light source as an identifier. The backpack is also prepared for the use of a hydration bladder and other equipment needed for extended deployment. The details are based on real-world use.
