The Modestone Military Waterproof Notebook contains 50 sheets of durable stone paper for notes, technical sketches and map work in the field. Its A5 pages feature a 7 × 7 mm grid and resist water, mud, snow, dirt and oil. Conversion tables and three integrated rulers provide useful reference tools without adding separate equipment.
The notebook measures 210 × 148 mm and contains 50 sheets, providing a total of 100 pages. It offers sufficient space for notes, technical sketches, field data and map work while remaining more compact than an A4 notebook.
Each page features a 7 × 7 mm grid that supports organized note-taking, diagram creation and the recording of dimensions or other technical data.
The inside back cover contains metric and US customary unit conversions, an overview of British imperial units and a scale table. It also includes a centimeter ruler and map rulers for scales of 1:25,000 and 1:50,000.
The paper consists of approximately 80% calcium carbonate and 20% HDPE. It does not absorb water, including through its cut edges, and resists mud, snow, dirt and oil. The material is also more difficult to tear than conventional cellulose paper.
The pages can be written on with a standard pen or pencil. If conventional writing tools are unavailable, marks can also be made with a key or another suitable pointed metal object.
The military version is designed for training, reconnaissance and other field activities. Each military variant is assigned its own NATO Stock Number.
The side-mounted spiral binding makes pages easy to turn and supports comfortable writing. The paper has a weight of approximately 144 g/m², while the complete notebook weighs around 260 to 266 g.
