Qore Performance was built around a simple question: how do you stay operational longer when heat, sweat, and overheating start working against you? Instead of leaning into another wave of “tactical lifestyle” marketing, the American brand focused on developing practical equipment designed to improve cooling, hydration, and comfort under load. That approach quickly earned Qore the attention of military personnel, law enforcement officers, shooters, and professionals operating in demanding environments.
Anyone who has spent hours wearing a plate carrier or running drills in full kit knows the problem usually doesn’t start with the weight of the gear itself. Add higher temperatures and prolonged movement, and the body gradually begins to feel like it is literally cooking under the equipment. Heat gets trapped beneath the gear, everything becomes soaked and uncomfortable, and even simple tasks start draining far more energy than they should.
Fatigue sets in, concentration drops, and after several hours, even basic decision-making or additional movement can feel unnecessarily exhausting.

And this is exactly where most conventional solutions start to reach their limits. Some only work for a short period of time, others are unnecessarily complicated, and many look far better in marketing campaigns than they do in real-world use.
That is precisely why Qore Performance caught our attention. The American company approached the problem from a practical perspective rather than a purely marketing-driven one. Instead of overengineered systems, Qore focused on developing gear designed to help people stay operational longer, move more comfortably, and perform more efficiently in demanding conditions.
Qore Performance co-founder Justin Li previously served in law enforcement in Southern California, spending long hours operating in demanding terrain, extreme heat, and heavy gear. It was there that he began tackling a problem familiar to almost anyone involved in shooting, tactical training, or professional duty work: how to stay operational after hours in a plate carrier, when the real limitation becomes not just fatigue, but overheating itself.
Rather than adding more equipment or relying on complicated electronics, Li started looking for a simpler and more practical solution — one focused on improving body cooling, hydration, and overall comfort during extended wear.
The first prototypes were built in a highly improvised way, but the original idea gradually evolved into a complete system centered around thermoregulation and more efficient gear use in harsh conditions. Those early concepts eventually became the foundation for what is now known as the ICEPLATE® system.
And that real-world, experience-driven approach remains one of the most interesting aspects of Qore Performance to this day.

Although Qore Performance is most commonly associated with the ICEPLATE® system, the overall concept behind the brand goes far beyond a simple “water bottle for your carrier.” In reality, Qore has developed a well-thought-out ecosystem focused on thermoregulation, long-term comfort, and more efficient use of tactical gear as a whole.
The company looks at problems such as how to dissipate heat more effectively, improve hydration management, enhance airflow under gear, and reduce discomfort during prolonged wear of heavy equipment. That is where Qore stands apart from many conventional manufacturers — the focus is not just on a standalone product, but on how the entire setup performs together over extended periods of use.
Today, the best-known product is the ICEPLATE® system: a low-profile hydration reservoir shaped to fit inside a plate carrier while serving not only as a water source, but also as a simple passive cooling solution for the body. Alongside it, Qore also offers products such as the ventilated ICEVENTS® padding system, compact ICEFLASK® hydration solutions, and additional equipment designed to improve comfort and performance in demanding environments.
In the next article, we’ll take a closer look at how these products perform in real-world use, why they generated so much attention within the tactical community, and what sets them apart from more conventional solutions.

One of the more interesting aspects of Qore Performance is how quickly the brand caught the attention of the U.S. military. According to Qore itself, one of the defining moments came when the company was tasked with developing a cooling solution that could work underneath ballistic protection — without batteries, moving parts, or a significant increase in gear weight. Those requirements eventually led to the development of the ICEPLATE® system.
Today, Qore products are used not only by military personnel, law enforcement officers, and other professionals operating in protective equipment, but also by companies in industries such as logistics, manufacturing, and industrial operations where people spend long hours working in heat and under physical strain. As a result, the Qore customer base extends far beyond the tactical community, ranging from military and law enforcement users to warehouse workers, production staff, and outdoor professionals.
And that is ultimately what gives the brand much of its credibility. Qore products do not feel like another “cool” accessory designed for occasional range days. They are built for people who wear their gear for hours at a time — where comfort, endurance, and long-term performance genuinely matter.

The more we learned about Qore Performance, the clearer it became that the brand approaches hydration and tactical gear differently from most companies in the space. The focus is not just on water storage or cooling alone, but on how a person actually feels after spending hours inside their equipment.
What impressed us most is the simplicity behind the solutions. No batteries, no fans, no overly complicated electronics — just a smarter way of making use of gear people are already carrying every day.
That philosophy is especially visible in the ICEPLATE® system, which combines hydration and passive body cooling while integrating naturally into a plate carrier or backpack setup. The same thinking can be seen across the rest of the Qore lineup. Rather than forcing users to completely rethink their equipment or adopt an entirely new system, the brand builds upon concepts and workflows that professionals already know from real-world use.
And honestly, that is what makes Qore so appealing to us. Most of the products feel like they were created to solve very specific problems faced by people who spend long hours wearing gear in demanding conditions.
We are not saying Qore will be essential for everyone. But for anyone dealing with heat, discomfort, or long-term wearability issues in tactical equipment, Qore Performance is definitely a brand worth paying attention to.
Qore Performance is one of those brands that may not fully make sense at first glance. But the deeper you dive into the individual products and the overall concept behind them, the easier it becomes to understand why the company has built such a strong following among military personnel, law enforcement professionals, and the shooting community.
In the upcoming articles, we’ll take a closer look at specific products, technologies, and real-world applications in demanding conditions. We’ll cover systems such as the ICEPLATE®, the ventilation-focused ICEVENTS® lineup, and the reasons why Qore approaches thermoregulation differently from most conventional hydration gear manufacturers.
