DoD Stop The Bleed – Control the Bleeding, Save a Life

This intensive, four-hour course is fully hands-on and suitable for both professionals and the general public. No prior medical background is required — only the willingness to learn how to help when a life is on the line.

Instruction follows the principles of algorithmic medicine – clearly defined steps that help manage emergencies even under stress.

1. Recognize life-threatening bleeding and make the right decisions within seconds.
2. Use commercial bleeding-control tools (pressure dressings, tourniquets, hemostatic agents).
3. Improvise when standard tools are unavailable – using everyday items to save a life.
4. Control limb bleeding using tourniquets and pressure bandages.
5. Manage junctional bleeding (groin, armpit, or shoulder injuries) through focused pressure and wound-packing techniques.
6. Perform wound packing with hemostatic gauze in deep or penetrating injuries.
7. Assemble and utilize your own “Bleeder Kit” – a personal bleeding-control kit for field use.

Instructors come from the Czech Armed Forces, the Integrated Rescue System, and civilian emergency services, bringing extensive real-world and operational experience from both domestic and international missions. Training can also be organized directly at your institution or workplace – the instructor team will arrive with full training equipment and tailor the course to your specific environment and needs.
