This MRE US Army® Menu B box contains twelve complete military field rations designed for use in field and combat conditions. Each Meal Ready-to-Eat (MRE) is hermetically sealed and ready for immediate consumption or heating with a flameless ration heater (FRH). Such a food supply is practical wherever cooking facilities are unavailable—during field operations, expeditions, or as part of emergency preparedness supplies.
MRE rations were developed as the standard meal for U.S. soldiers operating in the field. Each ration is designed to provide sufficient energy for demanding activities and contains a complete meal with multiple components. The compact packaging allows easy transport and use in environments without regular food preparation facilities.
Each ration is sealed in a durable, hermetically sealed pouch that protects the contents from moisture, contamination, and mechanical damage during transport. Thanks to this packaging, MRE rations have a long shelf life and are suitable for long-term storage as emergency food supplies.
Every MRE contains several components that together form a complete meal. The main entrée is supplemented by side items, snacks, and an accessory pack. Typically included are a dessert or snack, beverage powder, and an accessory kit with items needed for field consumption.
MRE rations include a flameless ration heater (FRH) that allows the main meal to be heated without an open flame. By adding a small amount of water, a chemical reaction generates heat and warms the entrée in a few minutes. This system is designed for situations where using a stove or fire is not possible.
