The ASP Ultra Plus Hinge Identifier is among the most advanced handcuffs ever created. It was developed based on feedback from police officers and instructors worldwide and received the NTOA Gold Award. They combine a lightweight forged aluminum alloy construction with maximum durability, precise control and features that speed up both application and removal.
The frame made from 7075 T6 forged aluminum alloy retains its shape even under extreme stress while weighing less than traditional steel designs. Forging instead of stamping ensures a smooth surface without sharp edges, making the handcuffs quick and safe to use – for both parties.
The tapered shape and flat contact surface of the arc fit a wide range of wrists and facilitate precise application. The steel arcs have a high radius of curvature, which minimizes the risk of injury, and the two-sided key mechanism allows for quick operation from any angle.
Each frame has a double lock and keyhole on both sides. One key turn direction controls both the main lock and the double lock. Color indicators immediately show the lock status. Uniform lock modules are field-replaceable, resistant to shimming, and allow transition to a high-security version.
Permanent color bands on the frame ensure immediate recognition. They facilitate equipment management between units and can also be used for record-keeping.
