The Schmeisser AR15-22 is a semi-automatic rimfire rifle chambered in .22 LR and built around the familiar AR-15 platform. It features a Mil-Spec AR-15 lower receiver, a 16-inch barrel with a 1:16 twist rate, a 1/2-28 UNEF threaded muzzle, an M-LOK handguard, an adjustable stock, and an ergonomic pistol grip. Combining realistic AR handling with the low cost and mild recoil of .22 LR ammunition, it is an excellent choice for training, recreational shooting, and rimfire competition.
The AR15-22 replicates the ergonomics and controls of a standard AR-15 while operating with affordable .22 LR rimfire ammunition. This makes it well suited for practicing weapon manipulation, shooting fundamentals, and trigger control with significantly reduced ammunition costs and recoil.
The rifle is built on a Mil-Spec AR-15 lower receiver manufactured by Schmeisser. It accepts many standard AR-15 components, including stocks, pistol grips, and selected controls. As with any AR-platform rifle, compatibility should always be verified before installing aftermarket parts.
The dedicated .22 LR upper receiver is designed specifically for reliable rimfire operation while maintaining the familiar handling characteristics of the AR-15 platform. This configuration provides an effective training rifle that closely mirrors the feel of a centerfire AR-15 while offering lower operating costs and reduced recoil.
The rifle features a 16-inch barrel with a 1:16 twist rate and a 1/2-28 UNEF threaded muzzle for compatible muzzle devices or suppressors. The free-float M-LOK handguard provides mounting space for accessories such as weapon lights, vertical grips, sling mounts, or rail covers.
An adjustable stock allows the length of pull to be tailored to the shooter, while the ergonomic pistol grip and familiar AR-15 control layout help reinforce consistent shooting habits that transfer directly to centerfire AR-platform rifles.
The rifle ships with one 10-round Black Dog .22 LR magazine. It is designed to operate with standard .22 LR ammunition, although many rimfire semi-automatic firearms achieve optimal reliability with high-velocity loads. Standard CCI ammunition or other quality high-velocity .22 LR loads are recommended. The threaded barrel also allows the use of compatible suppressors where legally permitted.
