The Discoveryopt ED-ELR Gen III 5–40×56 SFIR FFP-Z MRAD is designed for precision shooting at extended and extreme long ranges. It combines a 5–40× magnification range, 56 mm objective lens, extra-low dispersion glass, and a first focal plane reticle. The matching MRAD turrets provide a 0.1 MRAD click value, while the elevation turret incorporates a Zero Stop mechanism. Side parallax adjustment is available from 25 yd to infinity.
The reticle is located in the first focal plane, meaning it scales with the target image as magnification changes. Its angular subtensions therefore remain accurate throughout the entire 5–40× magnification range. The reticle can be used for range estimation and elevation or windage holds, while the matching turrets provide adjustments in milliradians.
Each elevation and windage click equals 0.1 MRAD, corresponding to approximately 1 cm at 100 m. The riflescope provides 25 MRAD of total elevation travel and 18 MRAD of total windage travel. Once the riflescope has been zeroed, the Zero Stop mechanism creates a mechanical return point at the established zero, allowing the elevation turret to be returned quickly after dialing corrections.
The optical system uses extra-low dispersion glass to reduce chromatic aberration and help maintain sharpness, contrast, and detail at higher magnification settings. The objective lens has a diameter of 56 mm, while the objective bell measures 67 mm externally. The exit pupil ranges from approximately 9 to 1.4 mm depending on the selected magnification.
The 5–40× magnification range allows the shooter to transition from a broader view of the target area to detailed observation and precise aiming at extended distances. The field of view ranges from 7.2 to 0.9 m at 100 yd, equivalent to approximately 7.9 to 1 m at 100 m. Eye relief measures approximately 89–91 mm depending on the magnification setting.
The side-focus control provides parallax adjustment from 25 yd / approximately 22.9 m to infinity. It allows the target image to be focused for the selected distance while minimizing apparent reticle movement caused by parallax. The reticle features red illumination with 6 brightness settings and is powered by one CR2032 battery.
The riflescope features a 35 mm main tube, measures 423 mm in overall length, and weighs 1,279 g. Nitrogen purging helps prevent internal fogging, while the IP67 rating provides dust-tight protection and resistance to temporary immersion in water. The manufacturer rates this model for recoil up to .50 BMG.
The package includes the riflescope, 35 mm scope rings, sunshade, lens caps, lens-cleaning pen, cleaning cloth, scope-leveling kit, hex key, user manual, 2 specification cards, and a warranty and inspection card. Before installation, verify that the height and interface of the included rings are compatible with the firearm and mounting rail.
