The Discoveryopt ED-AR 1–8×24 SFIR FFP MRAD is a compact low-power variable optic designed for fast target acquisition at close range and more precise aiming at increased distances. It combines true 1× magnification, a maximum setting of 8×, extra-low dispersion glass, and an illuminated first focal plane reticle. The locking turrets provide MRAD-based adjustments with a 0.1 MRAD click value. Its 34 mm main tube allows 38 MRAD of total elevation travel and 22 MRAD of total windage travel.
The 1–8× magnification range supports close-range use as well as more precise aiming at increased distances. True 1× magnification allows both-eyes-open shooting, while the 8× setting provides a more detailed view of the target. The field of view ranges from approximately 44.5 m at 1× to 5.25 m at 8×, measured at 100 m.
The reticle is located in the first focal plane, meaning it scales with the target image as magnification changes. Its angular subtensions therefore remain accurate throughout the entire magnification range. Each elevation and windage click equals 0.1 MRAD, corresponding to approximately 1 cm at 100 m. The riflescope provides 38 MRAD of total elevation travel and 22 MRAD of total windage travel. Both turrets can be locked to reduce the risk of unintended adjustments during handling or transport.
The optical system uses extra-low dispersion glass to reduce chromatic aberration and color fringing, particularly at higher magnification settings. This helps maintain image clarity, contrast, and color fidelity. The riflescope features a 24 mm objective lens, an exit pupil ranging from 15.6 to 3 mm, and eye relief measuring approximately 102 to 86.5 mm.
The reticle features red illumination with 6 brightness settings, allowing its intensity to be adapted to the ambient light. The illumination system is powered by one CR2032 battery. The side-focus control provides parallax adjustment from 5 yd / approximately 4.6 m to infinity, supporting accurate focus and reduced parallax error across a wide range of target distances.
The riflescope features a 34 mm main tube, measures 290 mm in overall length, and weighs approximately 687 g. Nitrogen purging helps prevent internal fogging, while the IP67 rating provides dust-tight protection and resistance to temporary immersion in water. The manufacturer rates this model for recoil up to .50 BMG.
The package includes the riflescope, sunshade, lens caps, cleaning cloth, user manual, 2 specification cards, warranty card, and compliance card. Scope rings are not included and must be selected separately for the 34 mm main tube.
