This design transfers torque through the strongest part of the upper assembly, helping protect the receiver from stress and deformation during barrel installation, maintenance, and other high-torque gunsmithing tasks.

Unlike conventional upper receiver vise blocks that clamp the exterior of the receiver, the Lug-Lok system engages the locking lugs of the barrel extension.
