





The Pixfra Draco D225N-4K 940 nm is a multispectral binocular designed for daytime, twilight, and nighttime observation. It combines a 256 × 192 thermal imaging channel, a 4K digital day/night channel, an integrated 1,000 m laser rangefinder, and a removable 940 nm infrared illuminator. PIPS 3.0 image processing, electronic image stabilization, GPS, a digital compass, and multiple viewing modes make it a versatile tool for wildlife observation, terrain scanning, search operations, and extended field use.
The thermal channel uses an uncooled VOx sensor with a resolution of 256 × 192 pixels, a 12 μm pixel pitch, a refresh rate of 50 Hz, and NETD sensitivity of ≤18 mK. Combined with the fast 25 mm F0.9 objective lens, it provides reliable heat-signature detection in darkness and challenging weather conditions.
The thermal channel is optimized primarily for locating people, wildlife, and other heat sources rather than reproducing the level of fine detail available from higher-resolution thermal sensors. The low NETD value helps distinguish subtle temperature differences and improves image readability when thermal contrast is limited.
The thermal channel provides 4.3× base magnification and a maximum detection range of up to 1,300 m. This configuration is well suited to scanning specific areas, checking woodland edges, and detecting movement across open or uneven terrain.
Digital zoom from 1× to 8× allows closer examination of the thermal image. The stated detection range indicates the ability to detect a heat source and should not be interpreted as identification range.
The digital channel features a 1/1.8-inch CMOS sensor with a resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels and a 55 mm F2.0 objective lens. It provides 5.5× base magnification and a field of view of approximately 14.0 × 8.8 m at 100 m.
While the thermal channel quickly reveals the presence of a heat signature, the 4K digital channel provides additional detail for assessing the observed object, surrounding terrain, vegetation, and obstacles. It can be used in full color during daylight or with infrared illumination in low-light and nighttime conditions.
The Draco D225N-4K supports Thermal, Visible, and Picture-in-Picture viewing modes. This allows the user to switch between the thermal and digital channels or display information from both at the same time.
Picture-in-Picture mode is useful when maintaining an overview of the surrounding scene while examining thermal information in a selected area. Together with the integrated laser rangefinder, the dual-channel system combines heat-signature detection, visual assessment, and distance measurement in a single device.
Pixfra PIPS 3.0 image-processing technology enhances contrast, detail, and overall image readability across both the thermal and digital channels. It helps maintain a clear and usable image when temperature contrast or visible detail is limited.
Electronic image stabilization helps reduce image shake during handheld observation, improving image readability and viewing comfort over extended periods.
The removable 940 nm infrared illuminator provides night-vision illumination at distances of up to 350 m. Compared with an 850 nm illuminator, the 940 nm wavelength produces a less visible red glow at the emitter, making it better suited to discreet wildlife observation and other applications where a less conspicuous light source is preferred.
The integrated Class 1 laser rangefinder measures distances out to 1,000 m with an accuracy of ±1 m. Ranging information is displayed directly in the image, eliminating the need to operate a separate handheld rangefinder.
The image is displayed on a 0.49-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels. The thermal channel offers six color palettes: White Hot, Black Hot, Iron Red, Alarm, Green Hot, and Sepia.
The digital channel provides Color, Black and White, Green, Yellow, and Auto display modes. The 50 Hz refresh rate supports smooth image rendering when tracking moving objects, scanning terrain, or using the binocular handheld.
The Draco D225N-4K supports photo capture, video recording with audio, an onboard gallery, Hot Spot Tracking, GPS, a digital compass, standby mode, defective pixel correction, and automatic, semi-automatic, or manual flat-field correction.
Built-in 64 GB storage provides space for recorded photos and videos. A Wi-Fi hotspot allows connection to the Pixfra Outdoor app for live viewing, file transfer, and device management.
The binocular features diopter adjustment from -5 D to +5 D, 15 mm eye relief, and an adjustable interpupillary distance from 60 to 74 mm. These settings allow the eyepieces to be adapted to different users for more comfortable extended observation.
A multifunction control dial and four buttons provide direct access to the main functions, including when operating the device in darkness or while wearing gloves.
Power is supplied by replaceable 18650 rechargeable batteries. The device can also be powered or charged through its USB-C port using a 5 V power source. Battery life is at least 9 hours at 25 °C with Wi-Fi disabled.
The housing is rated IP67 for protection against dust and water and is designed to operate in temperatures from -30 °C to +55 °C. The binocular measures approximately 195 × 130.6 × 61.7 mm and weighs no more than 610 g.
