The Busch PROtective BAM-1 Ballistic Mandible Guard is designed to provide additional ballistic protection for the lower face and jaw in high-risk operational environments. Combining lightweight construction, ballistic performance, and rapid attachment capability, the BAM-1 integrates with compatible Busch PROtective helmets equipped with CMR-1 rails. Its modular design allows the guard to be installed or removed within seconds as mission requirements change.
The BAM-1 extends ballistic coverage to the jaw and lower facial area. According to the manufacturer, it is rated to withstand penetration from a 9 mm DM41 projectile traveling at 425 ±10 m/s. It is intended for users who require increased facial protection beyond that provided by a ballistic helmet or visor alone.
Weighing approximately 280 grams, the BAM-1 adds minimal additional load to the helmet system. Its low weight helps reduce fatigue during extended wear while maintaining mobility and operational effectiveness.
The guard attaches using a steel hook-and-clip mounting system that allows installation and removal without tools. Users can quickly configure their helmet setup to match changing operational requirements and threat levels.
The outer surface features abrasion-resistant fabric combined with EPDM rubber protective elements to enhance durability during everyday use, transport, and deployment in demanding environments.
The BAM-1 is designed for use with Busch PROtective helmets equipped with CMR-1 accessory rails. This allows straightforward integration into existing helmet systems without additional adapters or specialized mounting hardware.
The guard is designed to work in conjunction with the Busch PROtective BAV-1 Mandible Cut ballistic visor. Together, the two components provide expanded facial protection while preserving visibility and communication capability.
