In Czech nature, thankfully, we have plenty of springs and wells, but even with these, we can't always be sure of the water quality. And if we go into nature abroad, we might (at least in some countries) expect that the water readily available in the field might not be entirely safe. If it is necessary to obtain water from unknown or visibly contaminated sources, fortunately, we can treat it so it can be consumed without concern.

A relatively simple, though time-consuming, way is to boil the water. However, you don't have an endless supply of energy when traveling, and wasting a gas cartridge to boil a liter of water? It's better to use a quicker and more practical method – chemical water purification.

For these purposes, we offer water treatment products that may contain various chemical compounds serving as disinfectant components. Some of them include chlorine, while others contain silver ions. The advantage of chlorine is that its disinfectant properties are truly unique. However, water treated with chlorine doesn't smell or taste very good. Furthermore, chlorine dissipates from the water over time.

If you clean the water with chlorine, you can add water purification drops, such as those from Katadyn, which we also offer. These drops will restore the normal taste of the water and eliminate the chlorine taste.

Another option is to use silver ions, which can ensure the safety of the water for much longer than chlorine. Silver ions can bind to the cell walls of microorganisms present in the water, preventing their growth. You can also combine chemical solutions with water filters, especially if the water is turbid.
